Yi immigrated to the U.S. from China.
Yi’s personal journey with immigration law began at the age of eight, when he was granted a visa to move to the United States. Having gone through the consular processing himself, Yi later became a permanent resident and ultimately a U.S. citizen. As both an attorney and a former immigrant, Yi has a unique understanding of the challenges his clients face and uses his firsthand experience to guide them through every step of the process. His deep empathy, combined with his expertise, allows Yi to offer valuable insight and support to individuals navigating the often intricate and daunting immigration system.
Yi holds a bachelor’s degree in history, with a concentration in Military and East Asian studies, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He also earned his law degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Yi is an avid runner with a passion for challenging himself. In 2020, during the pandemic, he self-trained to complete a sprint-distance ultramarathon, covering 31.1 miles, one of his prouder accomplishments.
